Ideas
are like stars; you will not succeed in touching them
with your hands. But like the seafaring man on the desert
of waters, you choose them as your guides, and following
them you will reach your destiny. Pursue
worthy aims. The
only time you mustn't fail is the last time you try. Four
things come not back: the spoken word, the sped arrow,
the past life and the neglected opportunity. It
is hard to fail, but it is worse never have tried to
succeed. Winning
isn't everything, but wanting to win is. We
make our own fortunes and call them fate. Dream
as if you'll live forever, The
fact is, that to do any thing in this world worth doing,
we must not stand back shivering and thinking of the
cold and danger, but jump in, and scramble as well as
we can. Life
is painting a picture, not doing a sum. The
important thing in life is to have a great aim, and
the determination to attain it. Do
not follow where the path may lead. To
avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, be nothing. Never
give in, never give in, never, never, never, never--in
nothing, great or small, large or petty--never give
in except to convictions of honor and good sense. We
are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefor, is
not an act but a habit. Nothing
will ever be attempted if all possible objections must
first be overcome. Imagination
is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited.
Imagination encircles the world.
There
are no gains without pains. I
am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am
not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live up to what
light I have.
